Audi Quattro All Wheel Drive System

Ever since its introduction, Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system has had many advantages over other manufacturers’ systems. In a traditional AWD setup, differentials cause the most power to go to the fastest moving wheel. In most situations this is ideal for cornering and traction. However, in a situation where one wheel is lifted away from the ground, the differential will apply all of the engine’s power to the elevated wheel. Audi’s Quattro AWD system solves this problem simply and effectively by locking the struggling differential, allowing both wheels an equal amount of torque. Simply put, the Audi Quattro all wheel drive system puts the power where you need it most, allowing travel over all but the most rugged terrain.
